Review: The Extraterrestrial Species Almanac: The Documentary

I recently watched a documentary by Craig Campobasso titled The Extraterrestrial Species Almanac: The Documentary, originally released in late 2024. This film was based on Campobasso's book of the same name, The Extraterrestrial Species Almanac, published in 2021. I have not read the book, but I've always been interested in what possible alien species are out there in the ether, whether physically or metaphorically encountered. Based on the film's trailer, I got the impression that the documentary would be very sci-fi based. It had a lot of artistic interpretations of alien species and snippets of interviews with "contactees" wearing medallion-like necklaces and speaking in great detail and conviction about their encounters with aliens. I thoroughly enjoy stories about extraterrestrials in any manner, and although I remain skeptical of most, I still like to keep an open mind or at least imagine the possibilities. After seeing positive comments about the documentary under the trailer on YouTube, such as one viewer saying they enjoyed the film when it was presented at the Contact in the Desert convention in 2024, I was compelled to rent the film for $6.99 on Vimeo.

The Extraterrestrial Species Almanac: The Documentary fully served my imagination just as I was expecting. The film jumps right into speaking about the metaphysical connections humans have with extraterrestrial beings and the many species that people claim to have encountered. The pacing is engaging, spending just a few minutes on each alien species that has come to light through the voices of those who have had experiences with them. Pleiadians, Lumerians, Nordics, Grays, Reptilians, Mantis beings, and Ant-like beings are just some of the alien races covered. There is also an enticing segment on the Mothman that only briefly touches on the subject, leaving the viewer wishing for more.

In conclusion, this film, aside from being entertaining and filled with fantastic imagery and special effects, was more of an introduction to the many avenues one can journey into under the subject of extraterrestrials. I would recommend this documentary to those who find fascination in supernatural alien encounters. I would not recommend it to those who are hoping to hear about alien autopsies or more tangible stories such as alien body recoveries from the Roswell crash. This film is basically what the title implies, an almanac of extraterrestrial species, hypothetically speaking. Maybe you or someone you know has had strange dreams, lost time, or a regressed memory connected with a certain alien being. The Extraterrestrial Species Almanac: The Documentary might be able to help you identify what being that is and give you a starting point to further your quest for the truth.

[For more details. In my own words]: It has been a year since the Las Vegas, Nevada, "alien" encounter that occurred on April 30, 2023. The family who witnessed this event still believes they saw something not of this Earth and more details have revealed even more shocking revelations. A quick recap if you have not yet heard the story: A Las Vegas police officer on duty in a residential area captured footage of a peculiar-looking meteor that he first believed to be a falling star. Moments later, a 911 call in that same area was received. A distressed young man named Angel tells the dispatcher that giant non-human-looking creatures, possibly about 8 to 10 feet tall with big eyes and mouths, have landed in their backyard. 

I use the word "landed" because before these beings appeared, there apparently was a bright light that slammed to the ground. Angel, along with his brother and father were outside doing maintenance on a vehicle when they saw the light appear followed by a loud bang. Angel also mentions in the spot where the light had hit, it looked rather blurry as though whatever was there, be it a portal or spacecraft, appeared to be cloaked. That was just Angel's guess, but it sounds like a good guess to me.

NewsNation caught up with Angel a year later. He still seems as confused as ever recalling that night and even more concerned than before. The family still lives in that location, but plans to move. It may be because Angel believes now that the "aliens" he saw were actually...demons! Yes, demons. He said they were very scary-looking and appeared angry and grumbling the night he made contact with them. He also reveals being caught in the demon's gaze at one point, paralyzed in what could have been fear, but after he said a prayer, he was released from the immobile state. After his family ran back inside the house, they saw that a crucifix inside was suspended upside down in mid-air, and the Jesus figure had been ripped off and thrown across the room. Sounds like something out of a poltergeist movie! When they approached to get a closer look, the cross then dropped to the floor. They also saw their Bible flipping slowly through pages as if an invisible being was investigating some scripture. Similarly, when Angel got closer, the pages fell back to the normal laws of gravity. The family has since had priests visit their home, in which the priests blessed the house and informed them that what visited their home sounded demonic, but after the blessing, their house will now be fine. Angel is still disturbed by it all and has trouble sleeping at night.

I have been interested in this story since it first came out because of the multiple pieces of tangible evidence like the police officer's bodycam footage of the "meteor", the 911 call, and the multiple witnesses in the neighborhood who also saw the flash of light, heard the loud bang, and even reported electrical surges and cuts when the bright light flew overhead. One neighbor said their TV and surveillance cameras cut out around the moment this strange event happened. Las Vegas UFO 911 Call Alien Encounter April 30, 2023

A very intriguing incident happened on the night of April 30, 2023, in a residential area of Las Vegas, Nevada. If the incident proves credible, it's going down in UFO history as a prominent event that America hasn't seen the likes of since Roswell. However, unlike Roswell, hard evidence of an alien crash was nowhere to be found, so there was nothing for the military to retrieve. It could be because there was never a crash at all. Maybe it was a visitation.

The story begins with footage of a Las Vegas police officer's bodycam. While the officer is tending to what appeared to be a domestic dispute call, a bright, glowing, blue disk-shaped object streaks across the night sky. The flying shape distracts both the officer and a civilian who was reporting a dispute. The civilian quickly stops talking and turns around to view the strange object. Figuring out what this extraordinary object could be becomes the officer's new priority.

Moments later, a 911 call comes in from a family in that same neighborhood. A young man by the name of Angel nervously tells the dispatcher that his family lives in a house with a large backyard. While his brother, father, and he were working on a car, they suddenly saw a bunch of bright lights come racing down from the sky to the middle of their backyard. They felt an "energy" or shockwave when it met the ground and heard a loud bang. Angel then proceeded to explain that some 8- to 10-foot-tall beings appeared and that they looked like aliens. They had really big, shiny, eyes and big mouths. He also added that this was not a "joke". 

The police arrived shortly after to hear the family's story. Having just seen what appeared to be a "UFO" minuets before, the police officers were clearly a bit spooked. They believed the family was being honest but could not be sure if what the family saw was actually aliens or if the flying object from the bodycam was actually a UFO. It became another strange unsolved case that is now reportedly closed.

Here is a list of key elements to note about this encounter:

• Law enforcement recorded actual footage of an unidentified flying object that night.

• The officer who spotted the object later mentioned that he originally thought it was a "falling star."

• The object could be a number of things: a meteor, a ball of lightning, an alien craft, etc. But when asked if there was any testing or running drills that night, the military claimed that they were not doing anything of the sort.

• A neighbor's home security camera caught a flash of bright light and a loud sonic boom at the same time the object was reported to have landed. [Update: The video was actually recorded 2 weeks prior around April 14, 2023. It’s still very strange to have so much meteor activity in the area, yet geologists do not seem interested in retrieving any of the meteorites.] 

• Angel said the area in which the bright light had hit in the backyard appeared to be blurry, as if the object was trying to camouflage itself. 

• Angel and his family also reported that they heard multiple footsteps scattering around their backyard and also heard noises of footsteps on the roof. 

• Angel later, in a video on YouTube (video below), went into further detail on what the "aliens" looked like. He said they were 8 feet to 10 feet in height. They had very slim bodies, long arms and legs, big heads, big eyes, big mouths, a greenish-grayish skin tone, and did not appear to be wearing any clothing. He mentions making eye contact with one of the beings, and upon eye contact, he experienced a moment of paralysis in which Angel said he could not move.

• One alien went over to a tractor in the family's backyard to inspect the controls.

• Home security footage of the event was caught on video. Unfortunately, the moment the bright light hits the ground, the video screen goes black, and when the screen comes back, the bright object is gone.

• Information on the departure of the landed object and the alien beings has not been clear. 

• A few days after the incident, police returned to the family's home and saw men in suits, hats, and sunglasses leaving the residence. (This sounds a lot like the family was visited by the Men in Black.)

• It was reported that Angel has video of the aliens he saw. That footage has not been released.

• This encounter happened around May 1st, 2023, but was not widely reported by mainstream news until a month later around June 7th, 2023. 

My thoughts on this story are that, until proven to be false, it sounds real. Skeptics would disagree, of course. Since the only hard evidence released to the public was the police bodycam footage, was the blue light actually a UFO? There are no official government experts who could address the matter, considering UFOs are always a classified subject. In my research and from what I have witnessed, UFOs look like organic space matter. They've been described as resembling stars, falling stars, meteors, and more. Yes, it could have been a plain coincidence that a meteor flew by before a family called 911 with a fake alien story. I don't know, but anyone with a tractor in your backyard, you better keep an eye out! Maybe the aliens use those tractors to make the crop circles. I would also like to add my opinion on the aliens that were described. They sounded like reptilians based on the description of greenish-grayish skin, big, shiny eyes, and a large mouth.
